Stanley Ducharme, Ph.D.
Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine and Professor of Urology at Boston University School of Medicine
Dr. Stanley Ducharme is a clinical psychologist and a diplomat in sex therapy at the Center for Sexual Medicine at Boston Medical Center. Along with a team of medical professionals, Dr. Ducharme provides clinical services to men and women who have a wide variety of sexual dysfunctions. In addition, he is a Clinical Professor of Urology at Boston University School of Medicine.

Since 1976, he has been a member of the active medical staff at Boston Medical Center and has collaborated with various academic departments including urology, endocrinology neurology, psychiatry and rehabilitation medicine. His clinical interests are in coping with a physical or neurological disability, substance abuse, sexual addictions, sexual dysfunction, transgender issues and the sexual aspects of disability.

Prior to coming to Boston, Dr. Ducharme completed a post doctoral Fellowship in Clinical Psychology at New York University Medical Center. He is twice past president of the American Association of Spinal Cord Injury Psychologists and Social Workers and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Education and Training Foundation of the Paralyzed Veterans of America. In addition, he is a past member of the board of trustees of the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. Dr. Ducharme is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and a member of the Education Committee of the International Spinal Cord Society. He is editor emeritus of the Journal of Sexuality and Disability and contributes columns and articles related to various aspects of sexual health.

Dr. Ducharme’s current interest is the development of clinical practice guidelines on the delivery of psychosocial and sexual health services to people with physical disabilities in developing countries within Africa and Southeast Asia.

Fiona Stephenson

Fiona Stephenson has over 30 years of nursing experience and found her passion in spinal cord injury (SCI) nursing care utilising her professional and life skills. At present she is Registered Service Manager, of a brand new flagship spi-nal injury centre in the heart of Dorset. Fiona volunteers regularly to provide international healthcare capacity building in SCI care. Fiona is a Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing and has been an active member of the International Spi-nal Cord Society on the Education, Disaster and Nurse Committees.

She was instrumental in creating/establishing the first SCI unit in Haiti following the 2010 earthquake, created/established a successful SCI rehabilitation clinic and has trained many nurses in SCI care there as well as another Low & Middle Income Countries. Fiona deployed following the Nepal earthquake in 2015 providing specialist support to Nepals’ only SCI centre (SIRC). She remains a member of the UK Governments’ Emergency Medical Team. Fiona is co-founder of the Haiti SCI Working Group www.hai-tisci.org and The International Network of SCI Nurses: www.scinurse.org . She was a core member of the WHO Reha-bilitation minimum standards & SCI Specialist Cell working groups and recently won the UK Cavell Nurses Trust “In-ternational Impact” Award. Hadeel Abu Soufeh

Hadeel Abu Soufeh is a consultant and a trainer of disability rights. She has been active in the rights of people with disabilities (PWDs) for six years. She began her experience in this field by being an active member in the campaign "It’s Time" at the University of Jordan to demand the right of education for people with disabilities on the basis of equality in opportunities with others. Hadeel is also the co-founder of 'Cumestier', which is an initiative that focuses on the importance of volunteering among people with disabilities in hopes to create a more inclusive community. In January 2015, she received the United Nations Volunteering/MBC Hope Award for her work with ‘Sar Waqtha’ and her volunteering. She provides technical assistance and training to organizations to guarantee inclusion of PWDs within these organizations. In December 2017, she was appointed as a member of the higher council for affairs of persons with disabilities’ board of Trustees.

Aheed Eltoum Fawzi Osman

Mr Osman pursued a career in Spinal Cord Injury in UK.  Since his appointment in 2003, as a  Consultant Surgeon in Spinal Cord Injury  at the Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries (based at  the internationally renowned centre  for musculoskeletal services- The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in England) he has developed a well integrated medical and surgical management of spinal Cord injury.

He delivers holistic management of all individuals, at all levels and complexities Spinal Cord Injury from acute stage through to their rehabilitation and long term follow up at the Midland Centre for Spinal Injurie which is a regional centre that caters to the population of the order of 10 million in the midland region in England. 

He is also Honorary Senior Lecturer at Keele University in UK.   He supervises PhD students.

He is recognised as a trainer by the General Medical Council, UK.

The Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries is recognised as a training centre by the European Board under his leadership. The Centre is also recognised for International Fellowship Training in Spinal Cord Injury.

His research interests include outcome measures in Spinal Cord injury (SCIM version IV) spinal regeneration, spasticity, pressure injury prevention and management.  

He has been active member of the International Spinal Cord Society, Editorial Board of the Spinal Cord and educational committee of International Spinal Cord Society. He was instrumental in establishing the SCI network in Africa and the Middle Eastern Countries.

He is also an active member of the Clinical Reference group for Specialised Spinal Services appointed by NHS England.

He has organised courses on national and international scientific meetings.  

He has delivered lectures as an invited speaker at many national and international conferences.

He has published book chapters and several articles in peer reviewed Journals.

Dr Ram Hariharan
Consultant at the Princess Royal Spinal Injury Centre (PRSIC)

in the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield for the last six years. A 60 bed centre, PRISC is a centre of excellence, second only to the national centre at Stoke Mandeville in terms of size and numbers of patients treated. It provides comprehensive Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) services incorporating acute, rehabilitation and continuing care facilities – including specialist plastic and urological surgery. Prior to 2012, Dr Hariharan held the post of acting Consultant, at the Yorkshire Regional Spinal Injuries Centre in Pinderfields General Hospital Wakefield, having been an Associate Specialist there for five years.

Dr Hariharan specialises in spinal cord injury rehabilitation medicine. The Princess Royal Spinal Injury Centre rehabilitation team are highly specialised and experienced in their care and management of SCI patients and practice a realistic and holistic approach to both rehabilitation and resettlement.

Dr Hariharan has significant research experience in the field of spinal cord injury, and has published a number of articles and presentations in this field. He has contributed as an author and co-author in Rehabilitation medicine textbooks. He brings a wealth of clinical experience.

Dr. Hariharan is also an honorary lecturer at the Sheffield university and is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.

 Dr. Hariharan has a keen interest in the development of Spinal cord injury services in developing countries and has been working in Madagascar for the past few years. He is also active in the African spinal cord injury network.

Dr Khader Almhdawi

Khader got his OT BSc from JUST in 2003 and his MSc from Colorado State University, USA, and PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences (stroke rehabilitation) from the University of Minnesota, USA in 2011. Dr. Almhdawi and his graduate students are currently researching in the field of adults' physical dysfunctions particularly of neurological challenges, assistive technology, occupational stress, education, and accommodating individuals with disabilities and integrating them in community.

Mr S C Budithi is a Consultant in Spinal Injuries Rehabilitation. He works at prestigious Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries based at Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry, United Kingdom.

After initial medical school and Orthopaedic post graduate training in India, he pursued further orthopaedic training in United Kingdom and completed fellowship examinations. He has European Board fellowships in Orthopaedics & Traumatology and Physical & Rehabilitation Medicine.

He completed Physical Medicine and Spinal Injuries Rehabilitation Residency Program in United Kingdom from Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board with a CCT - Certificate of Completion of Training.

His special interests include spasticity and pressure ulcer management particularly in patients with spinal cord injury. He is an active member of International Spinal Cord Society, British Association of Spinal Cord Injury Specialists, European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel and British Society of Rehabilitation Medicine.
